ST. JOHNS COUNTY / ST. AUGUSTINE

St. Johns County is a bedroom community to Jacksonville located on the south end of the city.  The county is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the St. Johns River to the west, with the Intracoastal Waterway intersecting the county.  The miles of beautiful waterways allow for terrific access to the wonderful Florida lifestyle.  In addition to all of the natural resources in here, St. Johns County also has the best school district in the entire State of Florida. 

ST. AUGUSTINE — The nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565, some 55 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, and 42 years before the English colonized Jamestown. Rich with history, the city has more than 50 attractions, including the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, the Spanish Quarter, the Fountain of Youth, and Flagler College Single-family homes, condominiums and apartments are available. Features include fine dining, cafe-style eating, shopping and touring. On the outskirts of town are shopping malls and retail centers.

JULINGTON CREEK/DURBIN/FRUIT COVE – This area is a bedroom community for Jacksonville and St. Augustine. It is a prime location for single-family residences in a variety of subdivisions. The lack of commercial development and the preservation of the scenic Bartram Trail (Highway 13) are appealing to many residents.

Julington Creek was one of Northeast Florida’s first master-planned communities and just recently finished its build out. Durbin Crossing and Aberdeen are the two new master planned communities adjacent to Julington Creek. All 3 communities offer the area’s top public schools, tremendous amenities that are all included for being a resident of the community.

WORLD GOLF VILLAGE – The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village offer good-natured living at its best. PONTE VEDRA BEACH/ SAWGRASS – Ponte Vedra Beach and Sawgrass are located in the northeast corner of St. Johns County, south of Jacksonville Beach along A1A. The community stretches along five miles of the Atlantic Ocean alongside carefully preserved wetlands. St. Johns County is the home of PGA TOUR and the ATP Association of Tennis Professionals headquarters. Annual tournaments including The TPC attract people from around the world. There are more than 150 holes of golf and 60 tennis courts.

ANASTASIA ISLAND – Anastasia Island is immediately east of historic downtown St. Augustine and is accessed by several bridges which cross the Matanzas River. This barrier island has beautiful beaches as well as many different areas to shop, eat, and enjoy beachside living. The island is also home to Anastasia Island State Park—a wonderful refuge where hundreds of thousands of people visit each year to enjoy enjoy camping, nature trails, beach time, water sports and more. The park is also an archaeological site where coquina rock was mined to create the nearby fortress, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in downtown St. Augustine.

VILANO BEACH – Vilano Beach was the oceanfront playground for northern tourists brought to the area by Henry Flagler. Ferries and horse drawn trolleys brought visitors from downtown St. Augustine over the Intracoastal to the beaches of Vilano. Today this quaint beachside community offers a quite lifestyle surrounded by thousands of acres of preservation and wildlife with the convenience of historic downtown St. Augustine just minutes away.
